I am not yet at my best: Matthijs De Ligt
In a latest, Juventus star Matthijs De Ligt has revealed that he is ‘short’ of confidence at the moment and is optimistic of getting much better with time.
Matthijs De Ligt signed for the Italian champions in the summer for a hefty transfer fee of €75m. The mere 20-year-old took the footballing world by storm last season with his top-class performances for his former club Ajax.
Moreover, he was also part of the UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season, Eredivisie Team of the Year and FIFA FIFPro World XI recently.
However, since joining Juventus, life hasn’t been very easy for Matthijs De Ligt. In fact, he also admitted to his short of form in a recent interview, according to a report from a transfer window.
“I am not yet at my best, I know. The more I play the more I will be . What I can do is continue to work hard, doing my best and learning from my teammates,” Matthijs De Ligt said.
As a matter of fact, the Dutchman is lucky to have not lost his place in the starting XI under Maurizio Sarri as Giorgio Chiellini is currently out with an injury.
“At Ajax I felt a sense of invincibility, now I feel less, but it is natural. I have a little less confidence than last year.” Matthijs De Ligt added.
“I’m in a new club, with a new way of playing and new companions. For me it’s all-new, now it’s less familiar than Ajax but I’m getting better and better,” Matthijs De Ligt said.
