Antonio Iriondo says they lost because of the pitch at Odisha

Jamshedpur FC suffered a defeat against Odisha FC, the game ended up with a 2-1 result. The match was been played at the Kalinga Stadium on Friday (27/12/19).

Jamshedpur FC coach Antonio Iriondo addressed the press in the post-match press conference.

Antonio Iriondo is happy after the match he also thinks they played better than the other teams

“We are pretty happy with the way we played tonight. For us, we played better than the other teams. We had many chances, more chances than the opponent. But you know in football if they arrive two times and in two times they score the goal, they get three points.

“That’s what happened in the last week in the last games with our team. We little bit missed our foreigner players. We have some injuries. And we lost some points, some power in our attack. We created chances, we played well, but we missed little bit to score goals.”

Antonio Iriondo says the pitch was not in the best condition the reason why they lost possession early

“See, we know that the pitch is not in the best conditions, it’s a new pitch. But I think it is worse for the team that has to keep the possession more. Sometimes in that game for us, it was difficult. Because we want to have the ball, we want to move the ball fast. Sometimes we can’t move the ball fast because the pitch is not in the best conditions.”

Antonio Iriondo applauds their away supporters

“They don’t have a big number of supporters; because, the stadium is big and we have got so many supporters. But the supporters who are here are very excited and they support their team really well.”

Antonio Iriondo on Aridane Santana

“We talked about Aridane also in that week. We know they play long balls to him but for us most dangerous is not that point because the most dangerous is when the players around take the second ball. Sometimes we stop him but there are times when we don’t mark man-to-man the players, who are around so that happened in this game and unfortunately we didn’t stop him well.”

Jamshedpur FC ended the year 2019 with a defeat but eager to bounce back on their next game against NorthEast United on Thursday(2/1/20).
